Messages From The FANS President 2023-2027
Dear Members of the Federation of Asian Nutrition Societies (FANS) and
All Nutritionists Across Asia,
It is a great honor for me to serve as President of Federation of Asian
Nutrition Societies (FANS 2023-2027). Nutrition is one of the most
fundamental requisites for human existence. Every discovery in the
nutrition realm contributes immensely to the advancement of human
progress. Today, the field of nutrition confronts new and complex issues
daily. These ranges from combating malnutrition and ensuring food
security to tackling the rise of non-communicable diseases and promoting
sustainable diets. While these challenges are vast, they are not
insurmountable. Together, as a scientific united force, we can address
them with unwavering efforts and determination.
Asia is the most populous region in the world and its well-being has a
profound impact on the global health landscape. FANS was born from the
collective vision of delegates who convened at the 2nd Asian Congress of
Nutrition (ACN) in Manila, The Philippines, in 1973. Today, we stand as
a vibrant federation comprising 18 countries and regions, we are proud
as a adhering body of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences
(IUNS), a global organization uniting nutritionists worldwide.
For 50 years, FANS has played a pivotal role in fostering
international fellowship among nutrition scientists throughout the
region. Our mission, deeply rooted in collaboration, includes
promoting cooperative working arrangements that advance nutrition
research, training, and action programs. We are committed to
facilitating the exchange of vital information and experiences in
these domains among our member countries.
As we stand on the shoulders of giants who have paved the way, we must
uphold FANS' mission with renewed vigor. By uniting across borders,
embracing inclusivity, and harnessing the power of science,
innovation, and collaboration, we can navigate the complexities of the
modern nutritional landscape. Our goal is clear: to promote scientific
research and innovation that underpins better health, well-being and
longevity for all.
I am honored to lead FANS in this pivotal moment in our history. I
firmly believe that science, invention, innovation, and their
practical applications are at the heart of fostering good nutrition
and enhancing health. We welcome all the nutrition societies in Asian
countries to join us, let us work together in advancing the science of
nutrition, striving for a healthier Asia, and building a sustainable
future.
